Skyvana K9 Styling grooms humanely abiding by the Animal Welfare Act.
The act states that we are not allowed to cause your pet any pain or discomfort ... and neither would we want to!
This does, however, mean that if your dog comes for a groom and is in a heavily matted condition the only method used to remove those mats would be by the use of clippers as this is the most painless method to do so. The use of matt rakes and matt splitters in order to remove the mats can be painful as the skin can be pulled, irritated and made very sore which nobody would want their pet to go through. (Imagine having that done to your hair!)
I do appreciate that it is not always the most aesthetically pleasing for an owner to have the mats clipped off, but when putting animal welfare first it is the best option.
Occasionally it is necessary to clip a good amount of coat off in order to allow the coat to grow back in a more manageable condition and to a length where the coat can be easily maintained by yourself and styled to your own choice or preference.
Owners will always be contacted in the case of dogs requiring more clipping than expected so please leave a few minutes spare at the beginning of your appointment in order to discuss any matting at the time.
I am more than happy to advise you on correct grooming procedures and the tools to use to assist you in maintaining the coat and preventing the mats from reoccurring.
